R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Beckie Driver has made a positive difference in the |
|
lives of Houston residents for more than a quarter of a century |
|
through her work in the field of adult education; and |
|
WHEREAS, During the course of her exemplary career, Ms. |
|
Driver has taught classes and served as a manager for other |
|
teachers; in these roles, she has assisted thousands of students in |
|
such programs as English as a second language, adult basic |
|
education, and general educational development; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Driver is currently the manager of the |
|
Sharpstown Learning Center of the Houston READ Commission, a |
|
nonprofit literacy organization; she manages a staff of 10 |
|
instructors, as well as volunteers and community workers, who serve |
|
some 300 adults a day; and |
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding educator's dedication, |
|
professionalism, and commitment to excellence have inspired her |
|
coworkers and students alike, and she may indeed take great pride in |
|
the notable contribution she has made by helping area Texans; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Beckie Driver for more than 25 years of |
|
exceptional work in adult education and extend to her sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Driver as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
