R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Beckie Driver has made a positive difference in the
  lives of Houston residents for more than a quarter of a century
  through her work in the field of adult education; and
         WHEREAS, During the course of her exemplary career, Ms.
  Driver has taught classes and served as a manager for other
  teachers; in these roles, she has assisted thousands of students in
  such programs as English as a second language, adult basic
  education, and general educational development; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Driver is currently the manager of the
  Sharpstown Learning Center of the Houston READ Commission, a
  nonprofit literacy organization; she manages a staff of 10
  instructors, as well as volunteers and community workers, who serve
  some 300 adults a day; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding educator's dedication,
  professionalism, and commitment to excellence have inspired her
  coworkers and students alike, and she may indeed take great pride in
  the notable contribution she has made by helping area Texans; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Beckie Driver for more than 25 years of
  exceptional work in adult education and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Driver as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
