R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends hold dear in their hearts their
  memories of Gladys Johnson Glenn, who died on October 8, 2009, at
  the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Gladys Johnson was born in York County, South
  Carolina, on August 7, 1924, to Sylvester and Julia Johnson; she
  married David McAllister Glenn, and they shared a long and
  fulfilling relationship until his death; through the years, they
  were blessed with two daughters, Kay Clinton and Judy Jackson, and
  their family eventually grew to include six grandchildren and eight
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Glenn and her husband made their home in
  Clover, South Carolina, and in addition to being a dedicated
  homemaker, Mrs. Glenn was active in a number of women's
  organizations and belonged to Bethel Presbyterian Church, where she
  served as the historian; and
         WHEREAS, Drawn to the ocean, Mrs. Glenn retired to Florida in
  1998, and she enjoyed more than a decade there before moving to Katy
  to be near her daughter, Kay; Mrs. Glenn was known for her love of
  gardening and the Atlanta Braves, and she avidly followed politics
  and world affairs; she was affectionately called "Gigi" by her
  grandchildren, who, along with other close relatives, admired her
  for her common sense, practical advice, and careful planning for
  family events; and
         WHEREAS, Gladys Glenn lived a full and generous life, and she
  will long be remembered with deep affection by all those who were
  privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gladys Johnson
  Glenn and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family:
  to her daughters, Judy Jackson and Kay Clinton; to her
  grandchildren, Laura Garner and her husband, Michael, Courtney
  Facciponte and her husband, Nick, Greg Jackson and his wife, Arlyn,
  Jennifer Mosley and her husband, Shawn, Todd Jackson and his wife,
  Becca, and Grant Clinton and his wife, Lindsey; to her
  great-grandchildren, Wyatt Garner, Amie Garner, Promise
  Facciponte, Parrish Facciponte, Caden Clinton, Brooke Mosley,
  Bryce Jackson, and Kyle Jackson; to her sisters, Ruth Smith and
  Linda Currence; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gladys
  Johnson Glenn.
