R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
  of Anthony A. Hernandez of Dallas, who passed away on April 16,
  2011, at the age of 55; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on October 18, 1955, Anthony
  Hernandez graduated from Kimball High School and then studied
  business and engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington;
  he married his high school sweetheart, the former Cathy Steward,
  and they shared 31 happy years together, raising three sons and
  welcoming a granddaughter into the family; and
         WHEREAS, After finishing college, Mr. Hernandez worked for
  the Trammell Crow Company in Dallas and Chicago before founding his
  own firm, Meridian Commercial; he was its chief executive and
  driving force, overseeing construction projects throughout Texas;
  in 1998, the company was honored by Southern Methodist University
  with the Dallas 100 Award, which recognizes fast-growing privately
  held firms in the city, and Mr. Hernandez was named Entrepreneur of
  the Year by the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; he
  further contributed to the business community by serving on the
  boards of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber and the Dallas/Fort
  Worth Minority Business Development Council; and
         WHEREAS, A member of Park Cities Baptist Church, this
  generous Texan was passionate about helping the less fortunate; he
  was a regular contributor to a variety of causes, including the
  Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber scholarship fund and numerous dog
  rescue programs; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez never missed one of his sons' sporting
  events or passed up a chance to dote on his granddaughter; in his
  leisure time, he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, cruising in
  the car with the top down, and watching television nature shows, and
  he was an avid fan of the UT Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys, and the
  Florida State University Seminoles; and
         WHEREAS, Although his life ended far too soon, Anthony
  Hernandez distinguished himself as a family man, a business leader,
  and an engaged member of his community, and he will forever be
  remembered with great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Anthony A.
  Hernandez and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones: to his
  wife, Cathy Steward Hernandez; to his sons, Jarrod Hernandez, Lance
  Hernandez and his wife, Benecia, and Marine Lance Corporal Casey
  Hernandez; to his granddaughter, Maddie Grace; to his mother, Ava
  Nell Miller; to his sisters, Ava DeMellio and Alicia Andrews; and to
  his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Anthony
  Hernandez.
