R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The Hispanic National Bar Association is holding its |
|
|
36th annual convention in Dallas on August 31 through September 3, |
|
|
2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The association represents the interests of more |
|
|
than 100,000 Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, legal |
|
|
assistants, and law students in the United States and its |
|
|
territories; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its founding three decades ago, the group has |
|
|
worked to encourage Latino students to choose a career in law and to |
|
|
promote their advancement within the profession by providing issue |
|
|
advocacy, programmatic activities, networking events, and |
|
|
educational conferences; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 2011 convention, with the theme "Forging the |
|
|
Future Together," is being hosted by the Dallas Hispanic Bar |
|
|
Association, which is guided by a mission to promote the social, |
|
|
economic, educational, and civic advancement of the Hispanic |
|
|
community of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex by making the legal |
|
|
system more accessible to that community and more responsive to its |
|
|
needs; the group is ably led by its president, civil district court |
|
|
associate judge Teresa Guerra Snelson, who is co-chairing the event |
|
|
with DHBA director Christie M. Villarreal; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Hispanic National Bar Association has provided a |
|
|
voice and meeting ground for Hispanic legal professionals and has |
|
|
rendered exemplary service both to its members and to the greater |
|
|
community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 36th annual convention of the |
|
|
Hispanic National Bar Association and extend to the members of the |
|
|
Dallas Hispanic Bar Association and all those in attendance sincere |
|
|
best wishes for a meaningful and memorable event; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Dallas |
|
|
Hispanic Bar Association as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
