R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Barbara Powers has been named the recipient of the |
|
|
Silver Beaver Award by the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of |
|
|
America; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This distinguished service commendation pays |
|
|
tribute to individuals who have made a positive difference in the |
|
|
lives of Texas youth through their dedicated work in behalf of the |
|
|
council; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A truly deserving recipient, Ms. Powers has shared |
|
|
her time and talents with the organization through her service as a |
|
|
den leader, assistant scoutmaster, committee chair, district |
|
|
committee member, associate advisor, and district vice-chair; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Powers is a member of the Order of the Arrow and |
|
|
has earned the District Award of Merit, and she has served as |
|
|
president of the Kiwanis International Scouting Association; in |
|
|
addition to her work with the Boy Scouts organization, she is the |
|
|
treasurer for the Garland Homeowners Coalition, a driver for Meals |
|
|
on Wheels, and a volunteer for dozens of organizations in the |
|
|
Garland area; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Many young people have benefited from the |
|
|
leadership, commitment, and enthusiasm of Barbara Powers, and it is |
|
|
a pleasure to join in acknowledging her exceptional contributions |
|
|
to the Boy Scouts of America; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Barbara Powers on her receipt of |
|
|
the Silver Beaver Award from the Circle Ten Council of the Boy |
|
|
Scouts of America and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Powers as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
