R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Thomas Cooper has been named the recipient of the |
|
|
Silver Beaver Award by the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of |
|
|
America; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This distinguished service commendation pays |
|
|
tribute to individuals who have made a positive difference in the |
|
|
lives of Texas youth through their dedicated work in behalf of the |
|
|
council; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A truly deserving recipient, Mr. Cooper has shared |
|
|
his time and talents with the organization through his service as a |
|
|
cubmaster, scoutmaster, committee chair, and charter organization |
|
|
representative; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cooper attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1973, |
|
|
has earned the District Award of Merit, and has completed the Wood |
|
|
Badge training course; he is a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of |
|
|
the Arrow and has served as the Gray Owl District chair and |
|
|
nominating chair; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to his scouting activities, he has been |
|
|
the chair of the board of the Baylor Medical Center of Garland and |
|
|
president of the board of the Garland Independent School District |
|
|
BEST Education Foundation; moreover, he has held the office of |
|
|
president of the Noon Exchange Club of Garland, and he has |
|
|
volunteered with a number of other community and religious |
|
|
organizations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Many young people have benefited from the |
|
|
leadership, commitment, and enthusiasm of Thomas Cooper, and it is |
|
|
a pleasure to join in acknowledging his exceptional contributions |
|
|
to the Boy Scouts of America; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Thomas Cooper on his receipt of the |
|
|
Silver Beaver Award from the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of |
|
|
America and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Cooper as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
