R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Diane Price of Richardson, who passed away on December 27, 2010, |
|
at the age of 78; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Price was born on June 2, 1932, in Moline, |
|
Illinois, to Suzanne and Kenneth Hartman; a gifted student, she |
|
graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vassar College, where she earned a |
|
bachelor's degree in economics; and |
|
WHEREAS, After working for an executive recruiting firm in |
|
New York City, Mrs. Price moved to Richardson in 1967 and joined the |
|
staff of Collins Radio, which was later acquired by Rockwell |
|
International; accomplished in her work, she earned a number of |
|
promotions through the years, retiring as a program manager in the |
|
defense communications systems division; and |
|
WHEREAS, Actively engaged in her community, Mrs. Price gave |
|
freely of her time and talents to a number of worthwhile |
|
organizations, including the advisory boards of the Dallas Ballet, |
|
Richardson Hospital, Promenade Bank, Richardson Symphony, and |
|
Network of Community Ministries; she also held a number of |
|
leadership positions, serving as president of Altrusa |
|
International of Richardson, the YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas, and |
|
the Richardson Chamber of Commerce; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Price further served on the selection board for |
|
the president of The University of Texas at Dallas, and she was |
|
instrumental in the establishment of Leadership Richardson; in |
|
1986, her exceptional efforts in behalf of the community were |
|
recognized when she was named Citizen of the Year; and |
|
WHEREAS, A loving wife and mother as well, she shared 30 years |
|
with her husband, Jim, and she was devoted to their blended family, |
|
which included her son, Shaun, and her stepchildren, Richard, |
|
Pamela, David, and Steven; in her free time, she enjoyed traveling, |
|
tennis, and golf; and |
|
WHEREAS, Diane Price brightened immeasurably the world |
|
around her, and her remarkable talent, her generosity of spirit, |
|
and her unwavering dedication to her loved ones will long be |
|
remembered by those fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Diane Price and extend |
|
sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Jim |
|
Price; to her son, Shaun Sullivan, and his wife, Suzette; to her |
|
stepchildren, Richard Price and his wife, Crysta, Pamela Froelich, |
|
David Price and his wife, Mary, and Steven Price and his wife, |
|
Jennifer; to her grandchildren, Kylie and Alden Sullivan, Katie, |
|
Rebecca, Maddy, and Zoe Price, Amanda Steele and her husband, Ryan, |
|
and Daniel Froelich and his wife, Nicole; to her sisters, Judy Kiley |
|
and her husband, Jack, and Susan Boldt; and to her other relatives |
|
and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Diane |
|
Price. |
