R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Those young people who give of their time and
  talents to assist in the demanding work of the Texas Legislature are
  truly deserving of our gratitude and admiration, and Jessica Hoy is
  one such individual; and
         WHEREAS, Originally from Alpine, Ms. Hoy has served as a
  legislative aide in the office of State Representative Elliott
  Naishtat from January through May 2011, and her commitment,
  dedication, and cheerful disposition have been greatly appreciated
  by her colleagues; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hoy's expertise in the area of health and human
  services has been particularly valuable to both Representative
  Naishtat's staff and his constituents, and in assisting citizens
  with questions relating to these areas, she has seen firsthand the
  ability of public officials to have an impact on policy; moreover,
  she has learned more than she thought possible about assisted
  living facilities, nursing homes, home and community-based
  services, end-of-life issues, and other human services-related
  issues as she followed the House Committee on Human Services and
  prepared for Representative Naishtat analyses on every bill
  considered by the committee; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hoy has further distinguished herself through
  her work on Representative Naishtat's legislation regarding
  forensic exams and confidentiality of sexual assault victims; going
  above and beyond the call of duty, Ms. Hoy has often stayed late
  into the night, preparing the representative's committee notebook
  and shepherding legislation through the entire legislative
  process; she has even been known to watch the house floor debate
  from her computer at home on Saturdays; she has also learned a
  considerable amount about the budget and the budgetary process; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate student in the Master of Science in
  Social Work Program at The University of Texas at Austin, Ms. Hoy
  has gained knowledge and understanding of the inner workings of the
  Texas Legislature and the legislative process that will surely
  serve her well as she prepares to enter the arena of macro social
  work; although her coworkers, most especially the legislative
  director, are sorry to see her tenure end, they share her excitement
  as she prepares to embark on a future that is bright with promise;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Jessica Hoy for her outstanding service as
  a legislative aide and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hoy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
