R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Toots Mansfield is being posthumously inducted into
  the Texas Heroes Hall of Honor at the Frontier Times Museum in
  Bandera on July 23, 2011, the National Day of the American Cowboy;
  and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1933, the museum houses the Western
  memorabilia collection of J. Marvin Hunter, the publisher of
  Frontier Times magazine; this year's Hall of Honor ceremony
  recognizes the pioneering spirit, strength of character, and
  contributions to Texas culture of one posthumous inductee and four
  living legends; and
         WHEREAS, Toots Mansfield blazed a trail of cowboy glory
  across the nation, winning the title of world champion calf roper
  seven times from 1939 to 1950; he was the recipient of more buckles,
  saddles, trophies, and personal awards than any other professional
  tie-down roper of his generation; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Mansfield continued to promote the legacy of
  rodeo as president of the Rodeo Cowboys Association and also as a
  generous mentor of younger riders, with whom he shared his
  considerable expertise over the years; and
         WHEREAS, Toots Mansfield's many accomplishments greatly
  enhanced the richness and diversity of Texas culture, making him
  most worthy of this special recognition from the Frontier Times
  Museum; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the induction of Toots Mansfield
  into the Frontier Times Museum Texas Heroes Hall of Honor and
  celebrate his enduring contributions to the Lone Star State; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Mansfield's family as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
