R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, On the National Day of the American Cowboy, July 23,
  2011, the Frontier Times Museum is inducting into its Texas Heroes
  Hall of Honor five extraordinary Texans, including Kinky Friedman,
  Scooter Fries, Toots Mansfield, Wyman Meinzer, and Louis M. Pearce,
  Jr.; and
         WHEREAS, The museum was founded in 1933 to house the Western
  memorabilia collected by J. Marvin Hunter, the publisher of
  Frontier Times magazine and the author of numerous books; the 2011
  Hall of Honor ceremony celebrates the pioneering spirit, strength
  of character, and contributions to Texas culture of one posthumous
  inductee and four living legends; and
         WHEREAS, Toots Mansfield is the posthumous inductee; a
  seven-time world champion calf roper, he is being commemorated for
  his achievements as well as for all his endeavors that served to
  promote the proud legacy of the rodeo in Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Kinky Friedman is a cultural icon, musician, author,
  politician, entrepreneur, and animal lover who has consistently
  provided a humorous perspective on life in the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, The official state photographer of Texas in 1997,
  Wyman Meinzer, has traveled the state for more than a quarter of a
  century, capturing the beauty of its landscape and the distinct
  cultures of its people; and
         WHEREAS, Louis M. Pearce, Jr., has devoted more than six
  decades of his life to building the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
  into one of the best and largest exhibitions of its kind in the
  United States; and
         WHEREAS, Former child prodigy roper Scooter Fries has won
  three state rodeo championships and two national rodeo
  championships and has helped preserve the heritage of rodeo by
  establishing the Cowboy Capital Rodeo Association; and
         WHEREAS, The many achievements of the 2011 Texas Heroes Hall
  of Honor inductees have greatly enhanced the richness and diversity
  of Texas culture, and they are indeed deserving of this special
  recognition from the Frontier Times Museum; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the 2011 inductees of the Frontier
  Times Museum Texas Heroes Hall of Honor and celebrate their
  enduring contributions to the Lone Star State; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the living legend honorees and for the Frontier Times
  Museum as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
  Representatives.
