R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of Missouri City have greatly benefited
  from the dedicated leadership of Don Smith since he was elected to
  the city council; and
         WHEREAS, During his tenure in municipal government, Mr. Smith
  has ably guided the city with an eye to the future, and his
  expertise in a range of community issues has earned him widespread
  respect; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Smith represents District B, and he has been
  dedicated to the safety of his fellow citizens, development of
  parks and green space, revitalization of the Texas Parkway and
  Cartwright Road corridor, and promoting a smoke-free environment;
  and
         WHEREAS, A resident of Missouri City for more than three
  decades, Mr. Smith has held leadership positions with such
  worthwhile initiatives as the Hunters Glen III Homeowners 
  Association, the Texas Parkway Alliance, the City's Tax Increment
  Reinvestment Zone Number 1, the Juneteenth Celebration Foundation,
  and the Texas Association of Council Members; in addition, he has
  shared his time with the NAACP, the A. Philip Randolph Institute,
  the Missouri City YMCA Century Club, the Black Heritage Committee
  of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and the Covenant Glen United
  Methodist Church Male Chorus; and
         WHEREAS, This veteran of the U.S. Air Force is retired from
  Pitney Bowes, where he served as southwestern divisional marketing
  director; in all of his endeavors, he enjoys the support of a loving
  family, including his wife of 33 years, Etta, and his six children;
  and
         WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of
  life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts
  of Don Smith have helped to make Missouri City a better place in
  which to live and work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Don Smith for his committed public service
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
