R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Charles Edward Cheeks, Sr., of Houston passed away
  on May 6, 2011, at the age of 68, leaving his circle of family and
  friends to cherish their many happy memories of time spent in his
  company; and
         WHEREAS, A native of the Bayou City, Charles Cheeks was born
  on June 26, 1942, to Euritt and Estella Cheeks; he graduated from
  Phillis Wheatley High School in 1961 and went on to attend Tennessee
  State University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cheeks was employed for three decades as a
  longshoreman at the Port of Houston, and in his leisure time he
  could frequently be found playing a game of pool, his favorite
  pastime; and
         WHEREAS, Although Charles Cheeks will be deeply missed, he
  will forever be remembered with great affection by all those who
  were privileged to share in the richness of his life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charles Edward
  Cheeks, Sr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his daughter, Cheryl; to his son, Charles; to his
  daughter-in-law, Anastasia; to his grandchildren, Charles, Mia,
  Charlotte, Douglass, and Christopher; to his great-grandson,
  Chauncy; to his brother, Rudy; to his nephews, Jamal, Imon, and
  William; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charles
  Edward Cheeks, Sr.
