R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Charles Edward Cheeks, Sr., of Houston passed away |
|
on May 6, 2011, at the age of 68, leaving his circle of family and |
|
friends to cherish their many happy memories of time spent in his |
|
company; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of the Bayou City, Charles Cheeks was born |
|
on June 26, 1942, to Euritt and Estella Cheeks; he graduated from |
|
Phillis Wheatley High School in 1961 and went on to attend Tennessee |
|
State University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cheeks was employed for three decades as a |
|
longshoreman at the Port of Houston, and in his leisure time he |
|
could frequently be found playing a game of pool, his favorite |
|
pastime; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Charles Cheeks will be deeply missed, he |
|
will forever be remembered with great affection by all those who |
|
were privileged to share in the richness of his life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charles Edward |
|
Cheeks, Sr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his daughter, Cheryl; to his son, Charles; to his |
|
daughter-in-law, Anastasia; to his grandchildren, Charles, Mia, |
|
Charlotte, Douglass, and Christopher; to his great-grandson, |
|
Chauncy; to his brother, Rudy; to his nephews, Jamal, Imon, and |
|
William; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charles |
|
Edward Cheeks, Sr. |
