R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Edgar Morales was selected to participate in the |
|
|
2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the |
|
|
82nd Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow Texans as an |
|
|
aide in the office of State Representative Rafael Anchia; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative |
|
|
Leadership Foundation, the program offers outstanding university |
|
|
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time |
|
|
policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American |
|
|
Legislative Caucus and gain experience working with the Texas |
|
|
Legislature; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Juan and Martha Morales, Edgar Morales |
|
|
came from Reynosa, Mexico, to McAllen with his family in pursuit of |
|
|
the American Dream; he attended public schools and graduated with |
|
|
honors in 2008 from The University of Texas--Pan American in |
|
|
Edinburg with a double major in political science and history and a |
|
|
minor in English, also studying abroad in England and Spain; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Morales has interned with the Mission |
|
|
Consolidated Independent School District and with United States |
|
|
Congressman Henry Cuellar; he plans to earn a graduate degree in |
|
|
public administration and hopes ultimately to work in government as |
|
|
an advocate for minorities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol, |
|
|
Mr. Morales has been of great assistance to Representative Anchia's |
|
|
office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing citizens of the |
|
|
Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a legislative aide |
|
|
with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he may indeed look |
|
|
forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Edgar Morales as a participant in the 2011 |
|
|
Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend him for |
|
|
his notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Morales as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
