R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jorge L. Reyes of El Paso was selected to
  participate in the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership
  Program, and during the 82nd Legislative Session, he has ably
  served his fellow Texans as an aide in the office of State
  Representative Roland Gutierrez; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative
  Leadership Foundation, the program offers outstanding university
  students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time
  policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American
  Legislative Caucus and gain experience working with the Texas
  Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Jorge and Monica Reyes and a student in
  the master of public administration program at The University of
  Texas at El Paso, Jorge Reyes earned his bachelor's degree in
  political science at UTEP in 2009; he worked full-time while an
  undergraduate in order to pay for his education without taking on
  debt; he has served as vice president of the Phi Alpha Delta pre-law
  fraternity and volunteered with various other groups on campus; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Reyes has also worked for the local nonprofit
  organization Community Scholars, which provides employment and
  leadership development opportunities for El Paso youth; he
  coauthored three reports on community concerns, such as health care
  and urban development, during his time with the organization; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol,
  Mr. Reyes has been of great assistance to Representative
  Gutierrez's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues including
  transportation, voter identification, immigration, and criminal
  justice; he has performed his duties as a legislative aide with
  skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he may indeed look forward
  to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Jorge L. Reyes as a participant in the 2011
  Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend him for
  his notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Reyes as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
