R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, James Edgar Brown of Jacksonville passed away on
  March 29, 2011, at the age of 93, leaving behind a remarkable legacy
  that will continue to resonate in the community for years to come;
  and
         WHEREAS, Born on February 18, 1918, in Paris, Texas, to Cora
  and John Brown, J. E. Brown graduated from Paris High School and
  then served his country in the United States Navy during World War
  II; he moved to Jacksonville in 1949 to head the local chamber of
  commerce, and he started J. E. Brown Insurance there in 1961;
  admired for his leadership, integrity, and public spiritedness, he
  also served Jacksonville as a member of its library board, as
  president of the local animal shelter and Rotary Club, as a member
  of the city council for several terms, and as the city's mayor; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Freemason
  and past master of the Jacksonville Masonic Lodge; a man of strong
  faith, he attended the First United Methodist Church in
  Jacksonville for more than half a century, holding numerous
  positions at the church and serving as a district lay leader; in all
  of his endeavors, he enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Mary
  Elba Brown, with whom he spent 48 years until her passing in 2002,
  and he took pride in his family of two daughters, Charlotte and
  Carolyn, and five grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Held in the highest regard by all who knew him,
  J. E. Brown built a life that was remarkably rich in family,
  friends, and accomplishments, and he will long be fondly remembered
  and greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of J. E. Brown and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  daughters, Charlotte Brown Admire and Carolyn Brown Karabinos; to
  his grandchildren, James, Kyle, and Mary Caroline Admire and Audra
  and Ingrid Karabinos; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of J. E.
  Brown.
