R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout is an achievement shared by |
|
|
many of this nation's leaders, and the attainment of this |
|
|
significant honor by Jacob Hume of Austin also heralds a future |
|
|
bright with opportunity and promise; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Corky and Dianne Hume, this fine young |
|
|
Texan has mastered many important skills in his quest to become an |
|
|
Eagle Scout; he has earned merit badges requiring expertise in such |
|
|
diverse areas as first aid, personal fitness, and environmental |
|
|
science, and he has gained experience in leadership and teamwork |
|
|
while undertaking his Eagle Scout project, which entailed the |
|
|
construction of a railing with three gates on a deck connecting |
|
|
three St. Christopher's Episcopal Church buildings and extending |
|
|
part of the deck; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A student at Bowie High School, where he |
|
|
participates in the school's outdoor performing ensemble, concert |
|
|
band, and percussion ensemble and holds the positions of percussion |
|
|
captain and battery section leader, Mr. Hume is also an assistant |
|
|
instructor at Oak Hill Drum Studio and owns his own pet sitting |
|
|
business; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A valued member of Boy Scout Troop 61 and a member of |
|
|
the Order of the Arrow, Mr. Hume has served his peers as a senior |
|
|
patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, and troop guide, and |
|
|
in so doing, he has exemplified the many positive traits for which |
|
|
Boy Scouts are renowned; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In fulfilling the rigorous requirements for |
|
|
attaining the Eagle Scout insignia, Mr. Hume has demonstrated an |
|
|
unwavering commitment to the organization and its ideals, and the |
|
|
knowledge and confidence he has acquired along the way will indeed |
|
|
serve him well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Eagle Scout Jacob Hume on achieving |
|
|
this prestigious rank and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Eagle Scout Hume as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
