R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
|
of Grace Neuhaus Richards of McAllen, who died on May 8, 2011, at |
|
|
the age of 78; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in McAllen on April 15, 1933, the former Grace |
|
|
Neuhaus was the daughter of Gertrude and V. F. "Doc" Neuhaus; she |
|
|
married Rupert C. Richards, and they raised three children, Rupert, |
|
|
Mark, and Trudy, and shared nearly a half century together before |
|
|
Mr. Richards passed away; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Southern Methodist University, Mrs. |
|
|
Richards served on the board of directors of V. F. Neuhaus |
|
|
Properties and Border Capital Bank, and she was a sustaining member |
|
|
of the Gladys Porter Zoo, a sustainer emeritus of the Senior League, |
|
|
and a former director and advisor of the Museum of South Texas |
|
|
History; she also belonged to the McAllen Junior League, Pi Beta Phi |
|
|
Sorority, and the Daughters of the American Revolution; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Grace Richards lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|
|
and she is deeply missed by all those who held her dear; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Grace Neuhaus |
|
|
Richards and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|
|
family: to her sons, Rupert Richards III and Mark Richards and his |
|
|
wife, Lezlie; to her daughter, Trudy Welch, and her husband, Bruce; |
|
|
to her grandchildren, M. Vincent Richards and his wife, Lindsey, |
|
|
Christopher, Chelsey, and Mattie Grace Richards, Rupert Richards |
|
|
IV, and Grace, Robert, and Meaghan Welch; to her brother, Vernon |
|
|
Neuhaus; to her sister-in-law, Gayle Neuhaus; to her |
|
|
brother-in-law, Lawrence Gift; and to her other relatives and |
|
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Grace |
|
|
Richards. |
