R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Helen Bradley of the Irving Independent School
  District was one of only 12 educators across the Lone Star State to
  be recognized with a 2010-2011 Outstanding Teaching of the
  Humanities Award from Humanities Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Since 1976, Ms. Bradley has been a member of the
  social studies faculty at Chester W. Nimitz High School, teaching
  history and government to 9th through 12th grades; she introduced
  advanced placement U.S. history to the school in 1985 and has served
  as AP teacher liaison, and she has taught classes at North Lake
  College as well; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Dallas, Ms. Bradley
  earned a master's degree in secondary education from the University
  of North Texas; she has served Irving ISD as a member of its
  curriculum and assessment writing committees as well as in other
  leadership roles, and she is a member of such professional
  associations as Kappa Delta Pi, Mu Omicron, and the National
  Council for the Social Studies; twice selected Nimitz Teacher of
  the Year, she also recently received the University of Dallas
  Outstanding Alumni Award, the Texas State Historical Association
  Winfrey Award, and the Texas Council for the Social Studies
  Secondary Teacher of the Year award; and
         WHEREAS, Helen Bradley embodies the spirit of service and the
  commitment and creativity that are the hallmarks of a good teacher,
  and she has greatly enriched the lives of countless young Texans;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Helen Bradley on her receipt of an
  Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Bradley as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
