H.R. No. 2219
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of James Edward Jones of Waco, who died on April 21, 2011, at the age
  of 86; and
         WHEREAS, Jim Jones was born in San Antonio on July 28, 1924,
  to Sam and Iva Jones; he answered his nation's call to duty and
  joined the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and while a marine
  he took part in the Battle of Iwo Jima; and
         WHEREAS, Following his return to civilian life, Mr. Jones
  attended Southern Methodist University, where he played on the
  football team; following his studies, he went on to enjoy a notable
  career with AT&T; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan shared a fulfilling
  relationship with his wife, Doris Lee Jones, until her passing, and
  together they raised a daughter, Denny, and a son, James; moreover,
  Mr. Jones was active in his community as a valued member of First
  United Methodist Church and the Karem Shrine Temple; and
         WHEREAS, Jim Jones lived a caring and purposeful life, and he
  will forever be remembered with great affection by all those who
  were privileged to share in his love and friendship; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Edward Jones
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  daughter, Denny Gay Patterson; to his son, James Joseph Jones; to
  his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and to his
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James
  Edward Jones.
