R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Ernest "Ray" Hicks of Waco, who passed away on April 9, 2011, at
  the age of 76; and
         WHEREAS, Ray Hicks was born in Groesbeck on September 10,
  1934, to Ernest and Nina Hicks; as a young man he answered his
  nation's call to duty and served with the U.S. Army; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hicks wed the former Naomi Sedberry, the love of
  his life, on Valentine's Day in 1963; they enjoyed a rewarding
  marriage of 48 years and were blessed with three sons, Donald,
  Randy, and Ralph, as well as nine grandchildren and three
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A longtime truck driver, Mr. Hicks enjoyed being on
  the road and seeing new places; over the years, he worked for Young
  Brothers, Campbell Soup, and Central Texas Frame and Alignment, and
  he was a self-employed contractor; and
         WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in the life of Ray
  Hicks will always remember him with great affection and admiration;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ray Hicks and extend
  sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Naomi
  Hicks; to his sons, Randy Wayne Hicks, Donald Ray Hicks and his
  wife, Nancy, and Ralph Len Hicks and his wife, Rana; to his nine
  grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; to his twin sister,
  Dorothy Sterling, and his other sister, Georgia Baker; to his
  brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean and Kathy Hicks and Carlos and
  Joyce Hicks; and to his other family and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ernest Ray
  Hicks.
