R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, June 11, 2011, marks the 50th wedding anniversary of
David and Caroline Pierce of Houston, and this joyous event
provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on their memorable
journey together as husband and wife; and
WHEREAS, David Pierce and the former Caroline Ridling met in
1959 as seniors at the University of Oklahoma; immediately after
their graduation in 1961, they were joined in matrimony at a
ceremony held in the bride's hometown of Ada, Oklahoma; through the
years, the couple have been blessed with a treasured family that

WHEREAS, Inspired by her many enjoyable trips with the
Pierces, State Representative Beverly Woolley penned the following
  poem to commemorate their travels:
London, Paris, the South of France,
Jordan, Israel, and all the rest.
We've walked, we've climbed, even sailed the sea.
We've had great times and many sights did see.
However the tale that best to me,
Is the way Caroline just won't let things be.
She reads, she studies, twiddles and tweaks
Instead of ten days, we stayed for three weeks!
Caroline always in her most gracious, genteel way
Comes up with planning, just one more day.
However, a rebellion Caroline did incite
When heading back as there was no more light.
Our ears did not believe what she did say,
"We can make it to another sight if we turn this way."
Well the rest of us roared with all our might,
"We're going to the bar for the rest of the night!!!"
WHEREAS, The 50 years of marriage that David and Caroline
Pierce have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love
and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all
who know them; now, therefore, be it

for continued happiness; and, be it further
