R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, D. L. and Aggie Shannon of Temple |
|
|
celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on May 9, 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, D. L. Shannon and the former Aggie Muckelrath were |
|
|
united in matrimony in El Dorado, Arkansas, in 1941; through the |
|
|
years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made |
|
|
even richer with the addition of two children, Carolyn Ash and |
|
|
Dallas Shannon, as well as three grandchildren, seven |
|
|
great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A 25-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Shannon is |
|
|
now retired from a career with American Desk; Mrs. Shannon has been |
|
|
a dedicated homemaker throughout their marriage; they have resided |
|
|
in the Temple area for nearly half a century; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the |
|
|
world during the past seven decades, this devoted husband and wife |
|
|
have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the |
|
|
strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges |
|
|
and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate D. L. and Aggie Shannon on their |
|
|
70th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Shannon as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
