R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Roy E. Kokel of Waco on February 20, 2011, at the age of
  92; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Walburg on August 3, 1918, Mr. Kokel worked
  on the family farm as a youngster, picking cotton and raising hogs
  and White King pigeons; he served his country in the United States
  Air Force during World War II and worked on airplanes; after the
  war, he embarked on a career as a barber that spanned more than four
  decades, and he built a loyal clientele as co-owner of Diamond Point
  Barber Shop; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Kokel shared a rewarding relationship with his
  wife, Flora, until her death in 2001; he was devoted to his son,
  Roy, and his daughter, Cindy, whom he nicknamed "Bird" after Lady
  Bird Johnson; as the years went by, he dedicated himself to his
  grandchildren as well, and he played an important role in the lives
  of other members of his extended family; his warm, friendly smile
  and many kind acts touched the hearts of innumerable people; a man
  of faith, he was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church; and
         WHEREAS, Although Roy Kokel is deeply missed, memories of his
  integrity, compassion, and steadfast love for his family remain to
  comfort and inspire those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Roy E. Kokel and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  daughter, Cindy Jensen, and her husband, Damian; to his son, Roy E.
  Kokel, Jr.; to his brother, Earnest Kokel, Jr.; to his five
  grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Roy Kokel.
