R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Naomi Showers, a participant in the Texas
  Legislative Internship Program (TLIP), has rendered outstanding
  service in the office of State Representative Ron Reynolds during
  the 82nd Legislative Session; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1990 and administered by the Mickey
  Leland Center on World Hunger and Peace at Texas Southern
  University, TLIP provides a unique opportunity for students from
  Texas colleges and universities to serve as interns in the Texas
  Legislature, in state agencies, and in local government offices;
  students receive academic credit for participating in the program,
  which combines study and research with supervised practical
  training; Senator Rodney Ellis serves as a program advisor, and his
  office assists with coordinating on-site activities; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Showers earned her bachelor's degree in
  political science from Lamar University, where she is currently
  pursuing a master's degree in public administration; she previously
  gained experience in politics working for the Bill White for Texas
  campaign in Jefferson County; she hopes to one day own a public
  relations and lobbying firm; and
         WHEREAS, During her tenure as a legislative intern, Ms.
  Showers has gained invaluable work experience and firsthand
  knowledge of the governmental process, while learning more about
  the important issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, This noteworthy young Texan has performed her duties
  as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed
  deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Naomi Showers for her service as a
  participant in the Texas Legislative Internship Program and extend
  to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Showers as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
