R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The vitality of the political process in Texas
  depends on the active participation of its citizens, and Jenny
  Rebecca Sykes has exemplified this spirit of civic engagement
  through her outstanding service to the Republican Party of Texas;
  and
         WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Ms. Sykes became engaged in
  politics while still a college student; she served the Texas Senate
  as a messenger during the 78th Texas Legislative Session and then
  went to work for the Republican Party of Texas after graduating from
  The University of Texas at Austin in 2004 with a bachelor's degree
  in French and a minor in business; initially, she served as the
  executive assistant to the chair and executive director and as the
  State Republican Executive Committee coordinator; she was soon
  asked to expand her duties, and she played a critical role in the
  planning of the RPT State Conventions in 2006, 2008, and 2010; in
  addition to organizing a massive Republican rally featuring
  President George W. Bush in Sugar Land in 2006, she coordinated the
  Texas Presidential Straw Poll in 2007 and served as the Texas
  delegation coordinator for the Republican National Convention in
  2008; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Sykes became organizational director and
  primary elections administrator in 2007, and she served as a
  faithful liaison to the State Republican Executive Committee, the
  254 Republican county chairs, and the RPT auxiliary organizations;
  moreover, she administered the Republican Primary elections in
  Texas in 2008 and 2010; she has further benefited the party by
  developing its infrastructure, recruiting new party leaders,
  providing training to party members and activists, assisting the
  2007 inaugural committee of Governor Rick Perry and Lieutenant
  Governor David Dewhurst, and serving as a co-coordinator of the
  RPT's Texas Republican House Committee effort and Hands Off Texas!
  movement in 2009 and 2010; and
         WHEREAS, In the spring of 2011, Ms. Sykes embarked on a new
  chapter in her career, joining the Michael Williams for United
  States Senate Committee as director of finance and organization;
  and
         WHEREAS, Jenny Rebecca Sykes served the Republican Party of
  Texas with enormous skill and dedication during a transition period
  that spanned three election cycles under three state chairs, and
  she may indeed take pride in her notable contributions; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Jenny Rebecca Sykes for her service to the
  Republican Party of Texas and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Sykes as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
