R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating great skill and determination, Jesse
  Guerra of Tornillo High School won the University Interscholastic
  League 2A state singles tennis championship on May 10, 2011, in
  Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Guerra bested Jordan Jackson of Stockdale High
  School, 6-2, 6-2, to claim the title; his path to the tournament
  finals included victories over Ian Story of White Oak High School in
  the semifinals and Adam Lessner of Brock High School in the
  quarterfinals; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Guerra's victory marks the first state title for
  a Tornillo High tennis player in 34 years; coached by Thelma
  Trevizo, Mr. Guerra distinguished himself with exceptional play all
  season long, triumphing in 24 of his 29 matches; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state title represents the culmination of
  countless hours of hard work and an enduring commitment to
  excellence, and this talented student-athlete may take justifiable
  pride in this notable accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jesse Guerra on winning the UIL 2A
  state singles tennis championship and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Guerra as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
