R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, State Representative Jessica Farrar graduated from
  The University of Texas School of Law on May 21, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Currently serving her ninth term in the Texas House,
  Representative Farrar was first elected in 1994 when she was 27; she
  serves as vice chair of the House Committee on Environmental
  Regulation and is a member of the Border and Intergovernmental
  Affairs Committee; in previous sessions, she has served as vice
  chair of the House Committee on Land and Resource Management and on
  the committees for State Affairs, Juvenile Justice and Family
  Issues, Corrections, County Affairs, Agriculture and Livestock,
  and Appropriations; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan also serves as leader of the
  House Democratic Caucus and is the founder and vice chair of the
  Women's Health Caucus; in addition, she has served as secretary of
  the Mexican American Legislative Caucus and as vice chair of the
  Legislative Study Group; she works extensively on issues related to
  the environment, women's health, children's health care, education,
  taxes, homeowner rights, homeland and border security, domestic
  violence, sexual assault, reproductive rights, insurance coverage,
  transportation, discrimination, and criminal and juvenile justice;
  and
         WHEREAS, Raised in Houston, Representative Farrar earned her
  bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Houston;
  she is supported in all her endeavors by her husband, Lieutenant
  Colonel Marco Sanchez, who is also an attorney; as she adds a juris
  doctorate to her long list of accomplishments, it is indeed a
  pleasure to recognize our esteemed colleague; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Jessica Farrar on her
  graduation from The University of Texas School of Law and extend to
  her warmest best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Representative Farrar as an expression of high regard
  by her colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
