R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The girls' soccer team from Wakeland High School in
  Frisco claimed the University Interscholastic League 4A state
  championship with a 2-1 victory in the title match on April 16,
  2011, in Georgetown; and
         WHEREAS, In besting Vista Ridge High of Cedar Park to win the
  first girls' state title in school history, Wakeland received goals
  from Ashley Kingston and Katey Carmichael, and Ms. Carmichael was
  named the game's most valuable player; stout defense also proved to
  be a key element in the team's championship run; the goal by Vista
  Ridge in the final was the only score allowed in the playoffs by
  goalkeeper Brittanie Barbero and the other Wolverine defenders; and
         WHEREAS, In her first year as head coach at Wakeland High,
  Meagan Wilson provided exceptional leadership, guiding the squad to
  an outstanding record of 25 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the dream of every
  high school athlete, and the memory of this significant achievement
  will remain with these dedicated student-athletes for the rest of
  their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Wakeland High School girls'
  soccer team on winning the 2011 UIL 4A state championship and extend
  to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
