R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A fruitful and accomplished life drew to a close on
  May 3, 2011, with the passing of Victoriano "Tano" Leal, Sr., at the
  age of 64; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Luis and Maria Caballero Leal, Victoriano
  Leal, Sr., was raised in Concepcion, Texas, and graduated from
  Benavides High School in 1966; he went on to earn his bachelor's
  degree from East Texas State University and would continue his
  studies at Texas A & I University in Kingsville, where he earned a
  Master of Arts Degree and administrative certification; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Leal began a successful teaching career after
  earning his graduate degree, he taught junior high students at San
  Diego Independent School District in Texas for more than 15 years;
  he then went on to become an elementary principal in Realitos,
  Texas, and then a junior high principal and Director of Federal
  Programs at Benavides Independent School District; he was an
  admirable man of strong moral fiber who dedicated his life to
  shaping his community's youth into the leaders he knew they were
  capable of becoming; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Leal possessed strong zeal for community
  service, which is evident by the eight years he spent as a valued
  and effective member of the school board of Benavides Independent
  School District, he was also a member of the Texas State Teachers
  Association, Texas State School Administrators Association, and
  Texas Cattlemen's Association; and
         WHEREAS, Victoriano Leal, Sr., was a loving husband, devout
  father, cherished grandfather, and treasured sibling who greatly
  valued his family and was a firm believer in helping his fellow
  neighbor; the lives he touched are numerous and the lessons he
  taught will continue to live on with many in his community; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pays tribute to the memory of Mr. Victoriano
  "Tano" Leal, Sr., and extends sincere condolences to the members of
  his family:  to his wife of 42 years, Mrs. Emma Lou Gutierrez Leal;
  to his three sons, Victoriano Leal, Jr., Joe Dan Leal, and Eden
  Adrain Leal; and his daughter, Katrina Wood; to to his two brothers,
  Luis Leal, Jr., and Jose Leal; to his sister, Eloisa Coy; to his
  sister-in-law, Maria Hilda Lopez; and to his granddaughter,
  Katalina Emma Wood; and to his many other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mr.
  Victoriano Leal, Sr.
