R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The late Jose Venecia, played a vital role as a
  selfless civic leader in Starr County for many decades, and his life
  and legacy are indeed worthy of tribute; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Guillermo and Sylvestra Venecia, Jose
  Venecia was born on June 14, 1927, in La Grulla, Texas; he
  implemented the teachings of his parents to provide himself with a
  strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling life; Mr. Venecia
  bravely served his nation during World War II to protect our
  freedoms; and
         WHEREAS, Jose helped numerous residents in his community by
  assisting them in obtaining employment with the Green Giant
  Corporation in the State of Washington, occasionally aiding with
  travel expenses for individuals who would otherwise be financially
  unable to make the transition; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Venecia contributed to the wellbeing of Starr
  County by proudly serving as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1 for
  21 years, the memory of his invaluable efforts to improve the
  quality of life for those in his community will continue to be
  remembered by Starr County residents for years to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pays tribute to the memory of Jose Valencia, and
  extends sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Lucilla S. Venecia; to his surviving brothers, Guillermo
  Venecia, Jr., Arnoldo Venecia, and Edelmiro Venecia; to his
  surviving sisters, Adela Villalon, Flerida Salinas, Maria Elena
  Hernandez, and Alma R. Venecia; to his daughters, Sonia Venecia,
  and Melissa V. Garza; to his sons, Jose Venecia, Jr., Joel Venecia,
  and Jason Venecia; to his grandchildren, Venilda, Victoria, Joey,
  Lexsa, Julie, Joel Jr., Jake, Jolyn, Justin, Lidi, and Jada
  Venecia, and Mason, Kaitlyn and Lyndsey Garza; and to his many other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mr. Jose
  Venecia.
