R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may |
|
temper the profound sadness felt by the loved ones of Betty Jo Smith |
|
of Waco, who passed away on April 17, 2011, at the age of 87; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Crosby County on June 17, 1923, the former |
|
Betty Ellison was the daughter of Amos and Flossie Ellison; she was |
|
joined in marriage with B. J. Smith, and they had many rewarding |
|
years together until Mr. Smith passed away in 2008; the couple |
|
raised two cherished sons, Russell and Clint, who preceded his |
|
mother in death; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith was employed as a secretary with the Waco |
|
Health Department and later with Connally-Compton Funeral |
|
Directors; she was a longtime congregant of Crestview Church of |
|
Christ; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Betty Smith will be deeply missed, |
|
cherished memories of time spent in her company will long endure in |
|
the hearts of her family and friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Betty Jo Smith and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her son, |
|
Russell Smith, and his wife, Terrie; to her four grandchildren; and |
|
to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty Jo |
|
Smith. |
