R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
  temper the profound sadness felt by the loved ones of Betty Jo Smith
  of Waco, who passed away on April 17, 2011, at the age of 87; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Crosby County on June 17, 1923, the former
  Betty Ellison was the daughter of Amos and Flossie Ellison; she was
  joined in marriage with B. J. Smith, and they had many rewarding
  years together until Mr. Smith passed away in 2008; the couple
  raised two cherished sons, Russell and Clint, who preceded his
  mother in death; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith was employed as a secretary with the Waco
  Health Department and later with Connally-Compton Funeral
  Directors; she was a longtime congregant of Crestview Church of
  Christ; and
         WHEREAS, Although Betty Smith will be deeply missed,
  cherished memories of time spent in her company will long endure in
  the hearts of her family and friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Betty Jo Smith and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her son,
  Russell Smith, and his wife, Terrie; to her four grandchildren; and
  to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty Jo
  Smith.
