R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Mikael A. Garcia ably serves his fellow Texans as
  legislative director for State Representative Aaron Pena; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to public service, Mr. Garcia has assisted
  Representative Pena in working to make Texas elections more
  transparent, free, and fair; he has volunteered his time to support
  the representative in the establishment of the Hispanic Republican
  Conference, a new caucus of Hispanic legislators; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia was born on March 25, 1988, and is the son
  of Ernesto and Nannette Garcia and the grandson of Beulah Gonzalez
  and Jose Leon and Margarita Garcia; he graduated from Sharyland
  High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and
  the leader of the trumpet section; with a deep love for music, he
  also played in Mariachi Sol Azteca and Mariachi los Gavilanes on
  weekends; and
         WHEREAS, After enrolling at The University of Texas at
  Austin, Mr. Garcia studied history, English, philosophy, rhetoric,
  and economics and gained experience in politics before graduating
  with a bachelor's degree in government; while a student, he wrote
  political opinion columns for the Daily Texan and was elected to two
  terms as president of the UT College Republicans; in addition, he
  interned for the Texas Legislature and the United States Congress;
  during the administration of former president George W. Bush, he
  interned in the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, and he
  received honorary citizenship from the city of Harrisburg,
  Pennsylvania, for coordinating a meeting between its mayor and the
  president; he worked for two political campaigns as well; and
         WHEREAS, Mikael Garcia performs his duties with diligence,
  professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to excellence, and he
  may indeed take pride in his noteworthy contributions; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Mikael A. Garcia for his outstanding
  service as legislative director for the office of State
  Representative Aaron Pena and extend to him warmest best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
