R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Devin Faber of Canton High School claimed the 2011 |
|
|
University Interscholastic League 3A state title in the pole vault, |
|
|
taking home the gold medal in that event for the second consecutive |
|
|
year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Competing at the Track & Field State Meet in Austin |
|
|
on May 13, Mr. Faber, a senior, won with a vault of 16 feet, 6 |
|
|
inches; this was his third trip to the state championships overall, |
|
|
having won the silver medal as a sophomore; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Making his achievement all the more impressive, this |
|
|
determined competitor was able to repeat as state champ after |
|
|
struggling with a hamstring injury for much of the season; |
|
|
following his graduation, Mr. Faber plans to continue pole vaulting |
|
|
at the collegiate level at Lon Morris College; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In proving himself the finest 3A pole vaulter in the |
|
|
Lone Star State for the second year in a row, this talented |
|
|
student-athlete has realized a well-deserved reward for his |
|
|
countless hours of hard work and enduring commitment to excellence; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Devin Faber on winning the 2011 UIL |
|
|
3A state title in the pole vault and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Faber as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
