R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Al Jones received the 2011 Brad Lomax Spirit of |
|
|
Hospitality Award from the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors |
|
|
Bureau in recognition of his commitment to local tourism; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A resident of Corpus Christi since 1970, Al Jones |
|
|
first moved to the area to head the South Texas operations of |
|
|
American Bank, which he leads today as president and CEO; a former |
|
|
chair of the board of directors of the convention and visitors |
|
|
bureau, he has long been aware of the important role tourism plays |
|
|
in the community and its economy, and he has worked to promote the |
|
|
city as a tourist destination; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jones most recently led a successful effort at |
|
|
his bank to raise $300,000 to install high-efficiency lights on the |
|
|
Harbor Bridge in downtown Corpus Christi; the bridge has not been |
|
|
lit since 1998; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has contributed significantly |
|
|
to the economic prosperity and positive image of Corpus Christi, |
|
|
and he is indeed deserving of this prestigious award; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Al Jones on his receipt of the 2011 |
|
|
Brad Lomax Spirit of Hospitality Award and extend to him sincere |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
