R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' golf team of Eastwood High School enjoyed
  an outstanding 2010-2011 season, winning a number of tournaments
  and coming within five strokes of claiming the state championship;
  and
         WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the Lady Troopers had a
  successful run in tournament play, finishing third at the Red
  Raider Classic in Lubbock, first at the Midland Invitational, first
  at the Andrews Classic, and first in the Coronado Invitational;
  individually, Laura Barron won the Midland Invitational and Alexia
  Heist won the Andrews Classic and was the District 1-5A champion;
  and
         WHEREAS, After claiming their third district title, the Lady
  Troopers advanced to the regionals in Lubbock, where they executed
  a spirited comeback to finish in second place and qualify for the
  state championship tournament; in that event, held at the Jimmy
  Clay Golf Course in Austin, the team had its best day ever in the
  opening round, scoring a 298; the Eastwood golfers were less
  successful on day two but still finished second, becoming the first
  El Paso girls' squad to win the UIL silver medal in golf;
  contributing to the runner-up showing were Ms. Barron, Aries
  Ramirez, Amber Herrera, Dell Blair, and Ms. Heist, who finished
  second in the individual standings and was named to the All-State
  team; and
         WHEREAS, The dedicated student-athletes of the Eastwood High
  girls' team are a source of great pride to their many supporters in
  the local community, and their outstanding performance on the links
  is indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Eastwood High School girls'
  golf team on its successful 2011 season and extend sincere best
  wishes to the team's players, coaches, and staff for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
