R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
|
of Betty Ann McWilliams of Waco, who passed away on April 18, 2011, |
|
|
at the age of 66; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born on March 15, 1945, in San Francisco, to Tommy |
|
|
and Elizabeth McWilliams, Betty McWilliams moved with her family to |
|
|
Edinburg the year of her birth; she enjoyed the companionship of two |
|
|
devoted brothers, Lloyd and Gary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The family moved to Waco in 1952, and she graduated |
|
|
from Richfield High School and went on to receive bachelor's and |
|
|
master's degrees from Baylor University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. McWilliams began a notable career as an educator |
|
|
with the Waco Independent School District in 1967; in addition to |
|
|
teaching, she sponsored the Waco High School chapter of the |
|
|
National Honor Society and the school's challenge team; she retired |
|
|
in 1997 and returned to teaching at Reicher Catholic High School the |
|
|
following year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Strong in her faith, Ms. McWilliams taught Sunday |
|
|
school at both Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and First Baptist |
|
|
Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Betty McWilliams was greatly admired by her |
|
|
colleagues as well as her students for the kindness and |
|
|
encouragement she showed to others; she inspired countless people |
|
|
during her time on this earth, and she will always be remembered |
|
|
with great tenderness and affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Betty Ann |
|
|
McWilliams and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|
|
family: to her parents, Tommy and Elizabeth McWilliams; to her |
|
|
brothers, Lloyd McWilliams and his wife, Nancy, and Gary McWilliams |
|
|
and his wife, Janice; to her aunt, Dorothy Laux; and to her other |
|
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty |
|
|
McWilliams. |
