R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Edna Pemberton has distinguished herself through
  her devoted service to the residents of North Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Active in the Dallas community for many years, Mrs.
  Pemberton coordinated the Oak Cliff Concerned Citizens Against
  Crime, a group working to improve neighborhood safety; she
  established Bridge Over Troubled Water in an effort to encourage
  volunteerism at area shelters and organized the Fall Festival,
  which provides food, prizes, and activities for foster and homeless
  children; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Pemberton has earned a number of honors for her
  contributions, including service awards from the YMCA, the City of
  Dallas, and the Governor's Commission for Women, the KKDA African
  American Hero Award, and the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce
  Willow Award; and
         WHEREAS, Edna Pemberton has demonstrated a lasting
  commitment to making Dallas an even better place in which to live
  and work, and in so doing, she has earned the deep respect and
  appreciation of her fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Edna Pemberton for her efforts in behalf
  of her community and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Pemberton as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
