R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For three decades, Ramon A. Castro of Del Rio has
  dedicated himself to assisting those in need through his work with
  the Emergency Medical Services Department of the Val Verde Regional
  Medical Center; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Castro began his career as an emergency medical
  technician in 1982 after he had served as a volunteer firefighter
  for the City of Del Rio for the previous five years; through
  rigorous training and hard work, he distinguished himself as a
  valuable member of the department; one of the highlights of his
  tenure took place in 1986, when he received a commendation from the
  EMS director for his lifesaving efforts while caring for a trauma
  patient; and
         WHEREAS, For the past three years, Mr. Castro has worked as a
  field training officer for new employees and certified EMTs looking
  to advance their knowledge, and he began teaching paramedic courses
  at the Val Verde Regional Medical Center EMS Academy in September
  2010; and
         WHEREAS, This experienced medical technician was appointed
  to the position of EMS director in February 2011; in that capacity,
  he oversees the daily operations of the department, supervising a
  staff of 27 personnel; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated member of the community, Mr. Castro
  gives of his time and talents to assist the United Way, the American
  Cancer Society Relay for Life, and the Adopt-A-Highway program; in
  addition, he happily attends career days at local elementary
  schools to extol the virtues of working as an emergency responder
  and also volunteers at community health fair events; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, he enjoys the love and
  support of his wife of 26 years, Rose Coronado Castro, and his
  daughter, Amanda, both of whom are involved with the regional
  medical center; Mrs. Castro works as patient liaison for the
  admitting department, and the couple's daughter is a volunteer for
  the Ladies Auxiliary/Blue Angels; and
         WHEREAS, Ramon Castro has devoted his career to saving lives
  and ensuring that emergency medical care is available to his fellow
  citizens, and his contributions have earned the profound gratitude
  of his neighbors and the lasting respect of his colleagues; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Ramon A. Castro on his three
  decades of exemplary service to the Emergency Medical Services
  Department of the Val Verde Regional Medical Center and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important
  work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Castro as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
