R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Alberto Andre Altamirano of Mission was selected to |
|
participate in the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership |
|
Program, and during the 82nd Legislative Session, he has ably |
|
served his fellow Texans as an aide in the office of State |
|
Representative Joe Farias; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative |
|
Leadership Foundation, the program offers outstanding university |
|
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time |
|
policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American |
|
Legislative Caucus and gain experience working with the Texas |
|
Legislature; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Mission, Alberto Altamirano is currently |
|
a student at The University of Texas--Pan American with a major in |
|
political science and a minor in legal studies; he has served as the |
|
president of the university's Young Democrats organization and as a |
|
senator at large in student government; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Altamirano is a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha |
|
political science honor society and has contributed to campaigns |
|
for Texas governor and state representative; in addition, he |
|
founded Pulp & Soda Magazine, which celebrates contemporary art and |
|
culture of the Rio Grande Valley region; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol, |
|
Mr. Altamirano has been of great assistance to Representative |
|
Farias's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing |
|
citizens of the Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a |
|
legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he |
|
may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Alberto Andre Altamirano as a participant |
|
in the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and |
|
commend him for his notable contributions to the legislative |
|
process; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Altamirano as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
