R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Alberto Andre Altamirano of Mission was selected to
  participate in the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership
  Program, and during the 82nd Legislative Session, he has ably
  served his fellow Texans as an aide in the office of State
  Representative Joe Farias; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative
  Leadership Foundation, the program offers outstanding university
  students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time
  policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American
  Legislative Caucus and gain experience working with the Texas
  Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Mission, Alberto Altamirano is currently
  a student at The University of Texas--Pan American with a major in
  political science and a minor in legal studies; he has served as the
  president of the university's Young Democrats organization and as a
  senator at large in student government; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Altamirano is a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha
  political science honor society and has contributed to campaigns
  for Texas governor and state representative; in addition, he
  founded Pulp & Soda Magazine, which celebrates contemporary art and
  culture of the Rio Grande Valley region; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol,
  Mr. Altamirano has been of great assistance to Representative
  Farias's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing
  citizens of the Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a
  legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he
  may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Alberto Andre Altamirano as a participant
  in the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and
  commend him for his notable contributions to the legislative
  process; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Altamirano as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
