R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Citizens of Greenville are gathering on September |
|
11, 2011, at First Baptist Church to commemorate Texas First |
|
Responders Day and to recognize the men and women of the Greenville |
|
Fire Department; and |
|
WHEREAS, The 78th Texas Legislature designated September 11 |
|
as Texas First Responders Day in honor of those vital personnel |
|
whose actions contribute daily to the safety of area residents and |
|
in memory of September 11, 2001, when 343 firefighters and |
|
paramedics made the ultimate sacrifice; and |
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Fire Chief Doug Caison, the |
|
members of the Greenville Fire Department work to safeguard the |
|
lives and property of others, willingly risking their lives to meet |
|
the challenges of their profession; in addition to their |
|
traditional duties of fire suppression and prevention, these |
|
dedicated first responders also deal with hazardous materials |
|
accidents, conduct search and rescue operations, and provide |
|
tactical medical assistance to the Greenville Police Department; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, The 10th anniversary of 9/11 is a solemn reminder of |
|
the skill and courage of firefighters and paramedics, and the first |
|
responders of the Greenville Fire Department are truly deserving of |
|
their fellow citizens' deepest appreciation and respect; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the Greenville Fire Department on |
|
the occasion of Texas First Responders Day 2011 and commend the |
|
members of the department for their exceptional valor and service; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Greenville Fire Department as an expression of |
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
