R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of George E. Busby, Sr., of Waco on May 2, 2011, at the age |
|
of 90; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Charles and Pearl Busby, Mr. Busby was |
|
born in Bishop on January 9, 1921; he grew up in Riesel, where he |
|
attended school, and enlisted in the United States Army; during |
|
World War II, he served in the South Pacific and the Philippines, |
|
and he went on to serve during the Korean conflict; he married the |
|
former Kishiko Takae in Kobe, Japan, on January 25, 1954, and he was |
|
the proud father of two sons, George and A. C.; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Busby was a member of the 8th Combat Engineer |
|
Battalion attached to the 1st Cavalry Division; over the course of a |
|
distinguished military career that spanned more than 23 years, he |
|
was awarded four Battle Stars, a Purple Heart, and numerous other |
|
decorations; he retired from the military in 1962 and became |
|
manager of Purolator Armored Car Service and then chief of security |
|
at the Levi-Strauss Waco Distribution Center before his retirement |
|
in 1994; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although George Busby will be deeply missed, |
|
cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in |
|
the hearts of his family and friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George E. Busby and |
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife |
|
of 57 years, Kishiko Busby; to his granddaughters, Lacresia Vanya |
|
and Crystal Busby; to his sister, Bessie Whiddon; to his brother, |
|
Charles C. Busby, Jr.; to his three great-grandsons; and to his |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George E. |
|
Busby, Sr. |
