R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Chris Xeros of Richardson has enriched the lives of
  countless people through his contributions as a musician, educator,
  and entrepreneur; and
         WHEREAS, For 36 years, Mr. Xeros taught music to students in
  the Dallas Independent School District; he was asked to lead the new
  Richardson Symphony Orchestra in 1962, and during his three decades
  as director and coordinator, the orchestra grew to become a
  55-piece ensemble and one of the most respected musical
  organizations in the Metroplex; he later came out of retirement at
  the age of 70 to develop the Allen Philharmonic Symphony and served
  as its director and conductor for nine years; the Chris Xeros
  Friends of Music Scholarship was established in his honor to
  benefit humanities students at Richland College; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Xeros was born and raised in Old East Dallas and
  studied both piano and viola at the prestigious Juilliard School of
  Music, where he earned a certificate in conducting; after studying
  with prominent conductors Julius Hegyi and Pierre Monteaux, he
  earned his bachelor's degree in music from the University of North
  Texas; he served as a cryptographer in the United States Army Signal
  Corps during the Korean War and then completed his master's degree
  in music education before joining the faculty of W. T. White High
  School; and
         WHEREAS, Today, this dynamic octogenarian continues to
  benefit his fellow musicians as the head of Xeros Music
  Enterprises, which produces endpin anchors for cellos and basses,
  as well as bass wheels; he began marketing the accessories he
  designed in 1988 and with endorsements from many music publications
  and instructors, he has sold more than half a million to customers
  around the world and is working on new products; and
         WHEREAS, Chris Xeros has made lasting contributions to his
  community and brought the joy of music to innumerable people, and it
  is indeed a pleasure to recognize his achievements; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize Chris Xeros for his accomplishments
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Xeros as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
