R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |
|
cause for celebration, and Beatrice Ann Boyd of Mineola marked that |
|
special milestone in her life on March 7, 2011; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, Beatrice Boyd was |
|
born near Yantis to Governor and Ellis Howle; on October 6, 1927, |
|
she married Oscar Lee Boyd, and the couple were blessed with three |
|
sons, Thurman, Billy, and Phillip; through the years, she has also |
|
welcomed six grandsons, six great-grandsons, and three |
|
great-granddaughters into her family; and |
|
WHEREAS, In her younger years, Mrs. Boyd worked in the |
|
textile industry and was widely admired for her southern cooking, |
|
especially her chicken-fried steak; today, she is a valued member |
|
of First Baptist Church in Mineola; and |
|
WHEREAS, Beatrice Boyd is a source of tremendous inspiration, |
|
and in sharing the experience gained through a century of life well |
|
lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that benefits all who |
|
are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Beatrice Ann Boyd on her 100th birthday |
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Boyd as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
