R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life filled with memorable experiences and
  meaningful accomplishments drew to a close with the passing of
  Thomas David Venable of Waco on May 3, 2011, at the age of 81; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Thurber on April 21, 1930, Mr. Venable
  graduated from Gordon High School and worked at a local bank before
  joining the United States Air Force in 1952; he spent most of his
  military career at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport,
  Louisiana, and attained the rank of staff sergeant; he later moved
  to Waco, where he was employed at Caldwell Electric as an electric
  motor serviceman and welder; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Venable was joined in marriage with the former
  Frances Federwisch in 1963, and they raised one daughter, Delores;
  the couple enjoyed more than three decades together before Mrs.
  Venable passed away; and
         WHEREAS, A man of many interests, Mr. Venable was an avid
  music fan and treasured his memory of seeing a very young Elvis
  Presley perform on the Louisiana Hayride in the mid-1950s; he also
  took great pleasure in hunting and fishing and in following women's
  sports, particularly the Baylor Lady Bears basketball team; his
  greatest joy, however, came in spending time with his loved ones,
  and he was known for his willingness to assist his family and
  friends in any way he could; and
         WHEREAS, Thomas Venable possessed a generosity of spirit that
  expressed itself in myriad ways, and countless lives were enriched
  by his warmth and kindness; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Thomas David Venable
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  daughter, Delores Hansen; to his sister-in-law, Barb Venable
  Cotton; to his nieces, Karla Roberson and Kelli Dooley; to his
  great-nieces and great-nephews; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Thomas
  Venable.
