R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Xinran Liu is graduating as the valedictorian of the |
|
|
senior class of Kingwood High School on May 28, 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the |
|
|
highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, |
|
|
"Lilly" Liu demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range |
|
|
of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted |
|
|
to her studies are myriad; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Liu has distinguished herself as a member of the |
|
|
National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society, and |
|
|
as a recipient of the Congressional Service Award; a member of the |
|
|
Houston Youth Symphony and orchestra, she was named Outstanding |
|
|
Soloist in University Interscholastic League competition, and she |
|
|
has been awarded Greentree Elementary and Kingwood Orchestra |
|
|
scholarships; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Liangjian and Yanlu Liu, Ms. Liu |
|
|
plans to attend Duke University and pursue a degree in economics; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Lilly Liu has earned the respect and admiration of |
|
|
her teachers and classmates at Kingwood High, and her exceptional |
|
|
scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have |
|
|
opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young |
|
|
Texan; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Lilly Liu on being named |
|
|
valedictorian of the Kingwood High School Class of 2011 and extend |
|
|
to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the |
|
|
next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Liu as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
