R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Paul A. Freeman won election to the Dallas |
|
County Schools Board of Trustees from Commissioner's Precinct No. 1 |
|
on May 14, 2011, and as he prepares to take office, it is |
|
appropriate that he be honored for his exemplary dedication to |
|
enhancing the education of the county's schoolchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Dallas County Schools Board serves the county's |
|
14 independent school districts by operating a fleet of |
|
approximately 2,000 buses, running an instructional media services |
|
library with more than 10,000 titles, and managing technology and |
|
psychological services departments; during his term, Dr. Freeman |
|
will draw on his experience in the Dallas Independent School |
|
District as well as at St. Anthony Catholic School in Dallas and at |
|
public schools in Louisiana and Mississippi; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Freeman holds a bachelor's degree in sociology |
|
from Texas College and a master's degree in theological studies and |
|
a doctorate in ministry from Southern Methodist University; he has |
|
had a notable career as a pastor in three states and leads Dr. Paul |
|
Freeman Ministries; in addition, he has been involved with numerous |
|
organizations benefiting young people, including the Boys and Girls |
|
Clubs of America and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and he has also |
|
shared his time and talents with Rotary International, as a |
|
Republican Party precinct chair, and as president of Mississippi's |
|
Lee County NAACP; in all of his endeavors, he enjoys the love and |
|
support of his wife of 41 years, LuVerda; and |
|
WHEREAS, Committed to fiscal responsibility and making the |
|
hard decisions that have to be made, Dr. Paul Freeman is rendering a |
|
valuable public service in behalf of the citizens of Dallas County; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Paul A. Freeman on his election |
|
to the Dallas County Schools Board of Trustees and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Freeman as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
