R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, Richard Ford has dedicated |
|
himself to promoting conservative values in government through his |
|
organizations, the Free Market Foundation and the Heritage |
|
Alliance; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Mr. Ford attended The |
|
University of Texas at Austin; after graduating, he moved to |
|
Dallas, where he built successful careers in both real estate and |
|
insurance; he and his wife Julie were married in 1967, and together |
|
they have been blessed with two daughters and six grandchildren; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In the 1970s, Mr. Ford organized the Free Market |
|
Foundation, which worked to educate Christians about their right to |
|
be self-governing; he transferred the leadership of the foundation |
|
to Kelly Shackelford in 1997, and in the years since, he has focused |
|
on political advocacy and campaign efforts through his new |
|
organizations, the Heritage Alliance and the Heritage Alliance PAC; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, The civic life of Texas benefits greatly from the |
|
energy and commitment of engaged citizens, and Richard Ford has |
|
proven himself to be a champion of the conservative principles of |
|
free enterprise, limited government, and limited taxation; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize Richard Ford for his work with the |
|
Heritage Alliance and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Ford as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
