R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  death of Mary Gaynelle Brandon Scruggs of Plano on May 27, 2011, at
  the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Farmersville on January 29, 1929, the former
  Mary Brandon was the daughter of William and Myrna Brandon; she
  married Bill Scruggs in 1966, and through the years, the couple were
  blessed with four sons, Larry, Garry, Steve, and Matt; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her many family responsibilities,
  Mrs. Scruggs was a dedicated supporter of the Republican Party; she
  served as county campaign co-chair for Ronald Reagan and as
  campaign manager for Congressman Sam Johnson, Collin County Sheriff
  Terry Box, and State Representative Brian McCall; recognized for
  her outstanding efforts, she earned the McVey Award and the title of
  Plano's Republican Chairwoman of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Mary Scruggs gave freely of her time and expertise
  to better her community, and she leaves behind a record of civic
  engagement that her loved ones can remember with pride; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary Gaynelle Brandon
  Scruggs and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to
  her husband, William N. Scruggs; to her children, Larry D. Scruggs
  and his wife, Shirley, Garry Lynn Scruggs and his wife, Mary, Steve
  Barr and his wife, Janice, and Matt Barr and his wife, Katrina; to
  her seven grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren; and to
  her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary
  Scruggs.
