R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
death of Mary Gaynelle Brandon Scruggs of Plano on May 27, 2011, at |
|
the age of 82; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Farmersville on January 29, 1929, the former |
|
Mary Brandon was the daughter of William and Myrna Brandon; she |
|
married Bill Scruggs in 1966, and through the years, the couple were |
|
blessed with four sons, Larry, Garry, Steve, and Matt; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to her many family responsibilities, |
|
Mrs. Scruggs was a dedicated supporter of the Republican Party; she |
|
served as county campaign co-chair for Ronald Reagan and as |
|
campaign manager for Congressman Sam Johnson, Collin County Sheriff |
|
Terry Box, and State Representative Brian McCall; recognized for |
|
her outstanding efforts, she earned the McVey Award and the title of |
|
Plano's Republican Chairwoman of the Year; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mary Scruggs gave freely of her time and expertise |
|
to better her community, and she leaves behind a record of civic |
|
engagement that her loved ones can remember with pride; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary Gaynelle Brandon |
|
Scruggs and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to |
|
her husband, William N. Scruggs; to her children, Larry D. Scruggs |
|
and his wife, Shirley, Garry Lynn Scruggs and his wife, Mary, Steve |
|
Barr and his wife, Janice, and Matt Barr and his wife, Katrina; to |
|
her seven grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren; and to |
|
her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary |
|
Scruggs. |
