A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the design and issuance of license plates for United
  States paratroopers.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 504.307, Transportation Code, is amended
  to read as follows:
         Sec. 504.307.  UNITED STATES PARATROOPERS [AIRBORNE
  PARACHUTISTS].  (a)  The department shall issue specialty license
  plates for [persons] active and former members of the United States
  armed services who have:
               (1)  satisfactorily completed the prescribed
  proficiency tests while assigned or attached to an airborne unit or
  the Airborne Department of the United States Army Infantry School;
  or
               (2)  participated in at least one combat parachute
  jump.
         (b)  The license plates must include:
               (1)  a likeness of the parachutist badge authorized by
  the Department of the Army; and
               (2)  the words "U.S. Paratrooper."
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
