A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the contents of the sex offender registration form and |
|
|
to information included in the sex offender database maintained by |
|
|
the Department of Public Safety. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Article 62.005(a), Code of Criminal Procedure, |
|
|
is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) The department shall maintain a computerized central |
|
|
database containing the information required for registration |
|
|
under this chapter and any palm prints submitted by a local law |
|
|
enforcement authority under Article 62.051(c-1). The department |
|
|
may include in the computerized central database the numeric risk |
|
|
level assigned to a person under this chapter. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Article 62.051, Code of Criminal Procedure, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) The registration form must allow a local law |
|
|
enforcement authority, at its discretion, to include the person's |
|
|
palm print on the form. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
